North Platte is the county seat of Lincoln County in Western Nebraska and is positioned directly off of Interstate 80 at exit 177. According to the 2010 census, North Platte is home to 24,733 people.

Buffalo Bill called North Platte home for more than 40 years. You’ll find his Victorian mansion and huge horse barn fully restored and filled with period artifacts and Buffalo Bill memorabilia at the Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park.

If it’s trains you’re interested in, North Platte has more trains than you can keep track of! The Union Pacific Railroad’s Bailey Yard, certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest in the world, stretches out for miles in every direction beneath the Golden Spike Tower and Visitor Center. The Golden Spike Tower offers a birds-eye view on this massive operation, with open-air viewing from the 7th story deck and fully enclosed, and climate controlled comfort on the 8th floor.

The Fort Cody Trading Post’s Old West Museum includes a 20,000 piece hand-carved miniature replica of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show among many other artifacts. Of course, you just might have to pick up a knick-knack or two in their curio shop. For more in-depth local history, you won’t want to miss the Lincoln County Historical Museum which houses the North Platte World War II Exhibit telling the story of how local volunteers served more than six million troops during the war. The Museum also includes a Western Heritage Village with many pioneer homes, businesses and artifacts.

For children, they can stretch their legs in Cody Park. Enjoy great ice cream at the concession stand, ride on the antique carousel and other carnival rides, feed the animals or sit in the engineer’s chair in a Challenger steam locomotive at the Cody Park Railroad Museum. The younger set can also enjoy (and learn!) at the North Platte Area Children’s Museum. Kids can sing and dance in the “Fine Arts World”; plant, grow and sell in “Market World”; role play in the “Medical World” just to name a few.

Beat the summer heat at Cody Go-Karts, located just off of Interstate 80. Water slides, bumper boats, miniature golf and go-kart racing are just what is needed for an afternoon of fun.

Feed your antiquing spirit with a one-of-a-kind destination. Grain Bin Antique Town has salvaged and repurposed historical grain bins and filled them with antique treasures of all kinds.

Don’t miss out on the Nebraskaland Days Celebration every June with rodeos, concerts and more!!
