CHECKING BAGS

The following baggage rules apply only when traveling on PenAir. If your itinerary includes travel on another airline, please check that airline's web site for their specific baggage rules.

Traveling in Alaska: For domestic travel, each ticketed passenger is allowed two pieces of checked baggage and one piece of carry-on baggage plus one personal item such as a purse, brief case or laptop computer.
Traveling on the East Coast: For domestic travel, each ticketed passenger is allowed one piece of checked baggage and one piece of carry-on baggage plus one personal item such as a purse, brief case or laptop computer.
All checked baggage is subject to the following limitations:
Each piece of checked baggage must weigh 50 pounds (23kg) or less and not exceed a maximum total linear dimension (length + width + height) of 62 inches (158 cm).
All checked luggage on PenAir must be processed at least 40 minutes prior to departure to ensure your bags are loaded onto your flight and avoid being rebooked on a later flight. All baggage is subject to inspection. Government safety and security regulations apply to PenAir’s carriage of baggage.
BAGS ON BOARDFor domestic travel each ticketed passenger is allowed two pieces of checked baggage and one piece of carry-on baggage plus one personal item such as a purse, brief case or laptop computer. All carry-on baggage is subject to the following limitations: Underneath space is limited to a small carry on item not to exceed 16"L x 16"W x 9"H. Baggage not meeting these specifications must be transported as checked baggage. Baggage carried on-board must be of a size and shape to allow for storage in the aircraft overhead compartments, or underneath the seat in front of the passenger. Overhead compartments have limited space to store a coat, small backpack, purse, infant diaper bag or reading material. All items not needed in-flight should be checked. Passengers are advised to carry-on medicine(s), keys, passport, and travel documents. The following special items will be accommodated on board in addition to the carryon allowance at no additional charge.

Each piece of checked baggage must weigh 50 pounds (23kg) or less and not exceed a maximum total linear dimension (length + width + height) of 62 inches (158 cm). Bags exceeding these weights and dimensions will incur additional charges.

Excess charges for additional, oversized, or overweight pieces are calculated on a per piece charge. An item which is oversized or overweight, and in excess of the free allowance will be assessed both charges. Baggage weighing over 100 pounds and/or over 115"/292cm will not be accepted as checked Baggage. Any items over 100 pounds must travel as cargo and be processed through the PenAir Cargo Department. ![]() Excess BagsExcess baggage is transported on a space available basis. Additional charges apply for all bags over the allowable limits. Acceptance of excess baggage does not guarantee that it will travel on the next departing flight.
Baggage weighing over 100 pounds and/or over 115"/292cm will not be accepted as checked Baggage. Any items over 100 pounds must go as cargo. Excess charges for additional, oversized, or overweight pieces are calculated on a per piece charge. An item which is oversized or overweight, and in excess of the free allowance will be assessed both charges. Delayed/Damaged BagsWe put forth our best efforts to ensure your bags arrive on time and undamaged. Occasionally, bags will be delayed or damaged. In the event your bag is delayed, damaged or mishandled we aim to reunite you with your baggage and/or review your claim in a timely manner. Our priority now is reuniting you with your baggage or reviewing your claim. Baggage that is delayed or damaged should be reported to PenAir personnel, in person, before leaving the airport. Failure to report baggage damage or mishandling of any scope will not be reviewed for compensation. If, in the unlikely case, your luggage is still missing after 5 days or you have additional questions regarding delayed or damaged bags, please contact our Central Baggage Service office at 907-771-2697 (Alaska) or 617-567-5134 (East Coast US). Please retain copies of your ticket, baggage claim check, and any receipts you may have accumulated for expenses incurred relating to your claim. |
